IEEEXtreme 24 Hour Online Competition
Prize!
- Fame: Competing in the world’s most extreme programming contest is a big deal – winning means you get unlimited bragging rights.
- The grand prize for the first place team is an all expenses paid trip to an IEEE conference or event of the team members’ choice.
- Members of the winning teams will receive a gift bag, an IEEE certificate and prizes to recognize their efforts.

Competition Rules
- Registration for IEEEXtreme will open on 1 September 2009.
- Teams will submit their problem solutions electronically using the online competition management system using the Mooshak tool.
- To learn more about the Mooshak tool in preparation, please visit their information pages.
- The 2009 contest problems will not be available until the day of the contest.
- Languages supported are: Microsoft Visual C++, C/C++, Java and some surprises.
- IEEEXtreme has two teams of volunteers working to make this the best event to date. The Organizing team members, responsible for the competition itself, publicity, marketing and working with the Technical team members, who will create and judge the problems. 2009 Top 25 Teams
IEEEXtreme 3.0 was held on 24 October 2009. An amazing 700 teams registered for this exciting event. Teams from universities in 40 countries and the ten Regions of IEEE participated. Our congratulations to all the teams who made this a record-breaking event.
Data is still being evaluated by the IEEEXtreme Org and technical teams. As promised, the top 25 teams were announced on 26 October. More information will follow. It was the positive energy and enthusiasm of the competitors that truly made this an IEEEXtreme event to remember.

IEEE 2010 Presidents' "Change the World" Competition
Are you a student with an idea that could benefit humanity and revolutionize the way we live?
The 2010 IEEE Presidents’ “Change the World” Competition is open to college and university students who demonstrate excellence in the development, design and implementation of technology that can solve a life challenge for the benefit of humanity.
The competition’s goal is to recognize and reward individual students or teams of students who identify a real-world problem and apply engineering, science, computing and leadership skills to solve it. The contest offers students the perfect opportunity to have their ingenuity and enthusiasm for engineering and technology recognized by prestigious IEEE members around the globe.

- IEEE Student Humanitarian Supreme: $10,000 USD
- IEEE Distinguished Student Humanitarian: $5,000 USD
- IEEE Exceptional Student Humanitarian: $2,500 USD
- Up to five Outstanding Student Humanitarian prizes: $1,000 USD
Eligibility
The contest is open to individual members of IEEE Student Branches or teams of college and university level students who have elected an IEEE Student Branch member as the team lead.
Judging
Selection Criteria
The winners shall be selected based on the results achieved and their impact on humanity, or, on a community.
Sustainability, reusability, transportability of the results to other parts of the world, entrepreneurship, originality, creativity and leadership shall be important but secondary evaluation factors.

IEEE Student Branch Web Site Contest
Prize!

Eligibility
All IEEE Student Branches and Branch Chapters are eligible for the Web site contest. Each Student Branch may enter at most one Web site, regardless of the number of Branch Chapters present. To enter your Branch, simply send an e-mail message to your Regional Students Committee Chair (RSC), Regional Student Representative (RSR) and to the Contest Administrator with the subject "IEEE Student Branch Web Site Contest." Please include:
- The URL of your Web site.
- The name of the Student Branch it belongs to.
- The IEEE Region you are in.
- The e-mail address of the Web site contact or administrator.
- Your name and e-mail address (if different from the administrator).
Deadline
- Branches submit their URLs no later than 15 April to their Region. Some of the Regions may require you to submit your entries earlier. Please contact your RSC for exact date of entry for your region.
- Each regional judging panel sends regional selections to the
Students Committee judging panel in the finals based on the following
formula:
- A Region that has greater than 10 entries but less than 20 can submit 2 entries in the finals.
- A Region that has greater than 20 entries can submit 3 entries in the finals.
- The Students Committee awards will be announced in June.
- During the period of judging, no changes in the design will be permitted.

- Currently enrolled student in their Sophomore year
- IEEE Member
- High GPA
- Involvement in IEEE or the community
How to Apply
- Submit nominations to Charles Tu by January 22, 2010. Include name, email, phone, school, GPA, IEEE member number, and a short recommendation of the nominee.
- Self nominations OK.
- If selected, the winner will attend an IEEE San Diego Section meeting to retrieve the award.
