What is IEEEXtreme?

IEEEXtreme is a worldwide programming contest in which teams of student members compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems.

Teams from UCSD will be competing against each other, and teams from other student branches worldwide for a free trip to any IEEE event/conference and some serious bragging rights! This is an opportunity to win a free vacation to practically any city of your choice in the United States! Members of the winning teams will receive a gift bag, an IEEE certificate and prizes to recognize their efforts.

When: 5:00pm Friday, Octover 23, 2009 - 5:00pm Saturday, October 24, 2008

Where: Room TBD

How does it work?

  • UCSD can register as many teams as it wants. A team consists of at most 3 current IEEE student members.
  • Teams are required to be present at the venue to receive problems and submit solutions. The event will be monitored by a faculty proctor.
  • You may use resources such as books and the internet to help solve your problems, but you are not allowed to seek help from people who are not on your team.
  • Each submission gets a time stamp, and extra points will be awarded for early submission.
  • For logistics and rules visit IEEE's website here.

What languages are supported?

You may code your solutions in any any of the following languages. You do not have to use the same language for each problem.

  • Microsoft Visual C++/C#
  • C/C++
  • Java
  • C#

What are the prizes?

The prize for the winning team is a free trip to any IEEE event. Consider it a free vacation to any city in the US!

All participants will receive a certificate of participation and a big "thank you" for helping us make the IEEE more fun.

All participants get free food and drinks for the duration of the event.
