IEEE / Robolink Sumobot Competition

Want to get started in robotics? Come compete in the UCSD at IEEE 2nd Annual Sumobot Competition! Gather some friends and work as a team to build a sumo wrestling robot to push other competitors out of the rink! Don't know where to start? No problem! IEEE at UCSD will be hosting free programming and development workshops to get you started with making your own sumobot!

About the Event

This event is organized by IEEE at UC San Diego with Robolink. The Sumobot Competition is an autonomous robot competition where teams (elementary through high school) will design and program a robot that pushes its opponents out of a ring. This event will encourage participants to learn and improve their programming skills, communication skills, and critical thinking.


    • 10:00 am ~ 10:30 am: Check-in, robot inspections
    • 10:30 am ~ 10:40 am: Opening Ceremonies
    • 10:40 am ~ 12:20 pm: Qualification Matches
    • 12:25 pm ~ 1:25 pm: Lunch
    • 1:30 pm ~ 2:30 pm: Final Matches
    • 2:30 pm ~ 2:45 pm: Raffle/Prize giveaways
    • 2:45 pm ~ 3:00 pm: Award Ceremonies

IEEE will be holding workshops at the La Jolla Library on 10/29 ~ 10/30, from 2 p.m. ~ 5 p.m. Robolink also offers sessions to teach participants how to assemble and program the Sumobots.
