Get Involved!

1. Participate in our IEEE projects

   

   Think you learned enough by taking these classes? Or think you haven’t learned anything from these classes? Either way, join our projects! Get a hands-on experience outside your lab classes, learn how to build a car, robot, airplanes, and work with a great team—all through UCSD IEEE projects! Remember, “Your GPA will get you an interview, but these projects will get you the job”!

   • Robomagellan (annual national competition)
   • Natcar (annual national competition)
   • AUVSI (partnered with AIAA)
   • Micromouse (maze solving robot competition)

   Gain hands-on experience working with both hardware and software meeting only once a week. Check out the individual project websites for detailed descriptions.

2. Come out to our events

   

   The first step to be active in UCSD IEEE is to come out to our events! We offer a wide range of events from Social and Outreach to Technical and Professional. Pick events of your choice and attend! Have better, creative ideas? Feel free to send us emails with your cool ideas!

   • Social Come meet fellow Engineers and have fun!
   • Technical Come learn more about microcontrollers and soldering and improve your technical skills!
   • Outreach Don’t be afraid to reach out to our next generation and inform them about Engineering!
   • Professional Get connected to the industry and prepare for your life after college!

3. Join IEEE International

   1. Why join the IEEE international and pay $30 when I can just show up to UCSD IEEE events?
      1. Not all of UCSD IEEE events are free for everybody, but everything is free for IEEE international members! Join IEEE international and “make a profit” by participating in our projects and attending our social, technical, outreach, and professional events!
